OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining's Saniya Chong is battling IT band syndrome while guarding for the University of Connecticut women's basketball team.
IT band syndrome is a common overuse injury where the iliotibial band painfully rubs against the thighbone.
According to New Haven Register, Chong is staying positive and has the support of her teammates and trainer Rosemary Ragle.
Chong played the final 5:09 of the second quarter and the final 4:46 of their 83-73 victory at Monday's Maggie Dixon Classic over the Maryland Terrapins. She contributed five points, one assist and two steals.
The junior guard has missed the previous three games and played 18 minutes in the first five in December.
