OSSINING, N.Y. -- Students at Ossining's Roosevelt Elementary School will learn about Hispanic culture during an interactive presentation Thursday.
Artist Felix Pitre will presents a program that uses music, storytelling, puppetry and instruments to "bring the culture of Latin America to life," the district said. The program is designed to help students understand Hispanic people and customs.
Pitre was born in Cataño, Puerto Rico, and has lived in the United States since the age of two. He has conducted workshops for students and teachers on Latin American culture, storytelling and writing, including an annual appearance as guest lecturer at Long Island University's Summer Institute for teachers and for the Education Department of The Kennedy Center.
