OSSINING, N.Y. -- With Halloween quickly approaching Raymond Sanchez, superintendent in Ossining has decided to ban all clown costumes from school events this year, according to a notice sent to parents.
In the letter, Sanchez said that although the district is monitoring clown-related social media incidents and working with local police to address concerns and to proactively place measures that ensure the safety of all students and staff, they believe it's in the best interest of safety to ban the costumes.
"After discussions with building leaders, we feel that this will ensure that we are able to maintain an orderly environment for our children during the Halloween season," he wrote.
