The Ossining School District was the recipient of a $1 million state grant to renovate the school's main entrance and make it more secure.
The entrance will be extended to include a security check area where visitors will sign in. Currently, they enter into a hallway. The project will also make the school’s main entrance more prominent and easy to find.
“We’re going to have a main entrance that will serve as a welcoming environment for those who come from our community, those who visit Ossining High School and for our students, and it will also provide another level of security, which is critically important to our staff, our students and our community at large,” Superintendent Raymond Sanchez said.
Sen. David Carlucci (D-Clarkstown), who represents Ossining, said the grant will make a difference in terms of safety, security, and aesthetics and allow more funding to go into the classroom.
“The leadership and faculty throughout the Ossining School District have always been extremely active and great partners, and I look forward to continuing to work with them on all of our future efforts,” Carlucci said.
