FIRST Robotics Competition engages high school students in a six-week build season to create a robot that can perform each year’s unique game. This year’s challenge, Stronghold, requires a robot that can launch “boulders”, climb over barriers, and scale a tower.

The team's sponsors included IBM, Entergy, Siemens, Ossining Matters, The Truckin’ Foundation, Wobble Café, Mooyah, and the Ossining School District.

The Ossining Engineering Club enables Ossining High School students to get involved in the process of engineering, machine work, computer programming, team organization, and electrical work. Through their annual participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition and the Connecticut Electrathon, students are given hands-on experience that is relevant to many careers in engineering, science, mathematics, and computer science.

Accomplished inventor Dean Kamen founded FIRST in 1989 to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people. Based in Manchester, N.H., FIRST designs accessible, innovative programs to build self- confidence, knowledge, and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology, and engineering.
