To the editor:
As you are aware the district conducted several rounds of lead water testing throughout our schools in the spring.
Where test results exceeded the EPA recommended level for lead in drinking water at schools, and in consultation with Quality Environmental Solutions & Technologies, the district took immediate action to remediate these areas.
To date, sources of concern based on EPA guidelines have either been remedied or remain off service.
Following the district's proactive measures, the state issued new legislation to mandate lead testing in New York schools.
To comply with the new regulations, we have administered another round of testing. These results have been posted to the district's website, www.ossiningufsd.org, and the district has developed comprehensive measures to address any new issues.
The well-being of our students, staff and residents remains our top priority and we will continue to take every precaution to protect the health of our educational community.
Sincerely yours,
Raymond Sanchez
