The grant will allow a small group of sixth- and seventh-graders to explore various aspects of computer programming and circuit design, the email said.

“This program will engage students in authentic, hands-on learning as they design and test circuits using a ‘Makey Makey’ circuit board and learn basic programming using ‘LEGO MINDSTORMS’ Robotics,” the email said.

The summer program is scheduled Mondays to Thursdays from July 8 to July 18.  Interested students must return an Interest Form, available online, to the Anne M. Dorner Middle School main office by April 30.  Selected students will be asked to attend an orientation at the middle school on May 8 at 6 p.m.  Families must be able to provide transportation to and from the academy over the summer.
