Higle, a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow, died on Saturday, March 15, after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses, according to his obituary. He was 70 years old.

Born on February 2, 1954, Higle graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School in 1972 before beginning a long and distinguished career in law enforcement. In 1980, he joined the Irvington Police Department, where he served with honor and dedication until his retirement.

Throughout his career, Higle was an active member of the Irvington P.B.A., even serving as its president, always advocating for his fellow officers and the community he deeply cared for.

In a statement on Wednesday, March 19, the Irvington Police Department expressed their sadness at his passing:

"Bob began his dedicated career as an Irvington Police Officer in 1980 and served as a respected member until his retirement. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time," the department wrote in a social media post.

Higle’s dedication extended beyond law enforcement. He was heavily involved in youth sports, coaching local baseball and travel teams, and was named TNT Baseball Coach of the Year in 1996. His encouragement and guidance left a lasting impact on countless young athletes in the area.

He also served as a Sleepy Hollow Village Trustee from 1999 to 2003, working to support local government initiatives. Additionally, he was an influential member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Sleepy Hollow, where he held leadership roles at both the local and state level.

Later in life, Higle founded MonuMedic Inc., a business he ran with pride until health challenges forced him to step away, his obituary said.

Higle is survived by his sister, Susan Wise & her husband Bob, his former wife, Rita Barron-Higle, their children—Sarah, Robert Jr., and George, his beloved granddaughter, Faith, and his longtime companion, Kathy.

A visitation will be held at Dwyer & Michaels Funeral Home on Thursday, March 20, from 4 to 8 p.m.

A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21, at the Church of the Magdalene, followed by burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
