Carbonaro is a volunteer firefighter and Lieutenant in the Ossining Fire Department, a former History and Economics teacher at EF New York, longtime Ossining resident, a graduate of Ossining High School, and graduated with honors from Oswego State University with degrees in Education and in History. He is currently pursuing two graduate degrees, a Master of Arts in Emergency and Disaster Management and a Master of Arts in Homeland Security from American Military University.

“I am proud to have Luke on our team. We know it will be an uphill fight to win an upset in the Village, but if there is anyone who is capable of breaking the Democrat one-party dominance in the Village, it is Mr. Carbonaro," Republican Committee Chairman Matthew MacFarlane said in a statement. "I look forward to campaigning by his side and establishing a strong Republican presence in the heart of Ossining.”

Carbonaro is also endorsed by the Conservative party.
