Jessica Nunez, 29, of Hopewell Junction, is accused of using the counterfeit money about 8:15 p.m. Friday, according to police.
While investigating the $1,130 theft, police identified an employee at the department store, Diego Bejar, as an accomplice in the theft, according to police. Bejar, 27, of Mohegan Lake, is accused of processing the illegal purchase.
Nunez was arrested at a Sears store in Yonkers about 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Bejar was arrested the following day in Shrub Oak, police said.
Both Nunez and Bejar were arraigned in Yorktown Town Court, where each was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies, according to police.
Bail for each was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. Nunez and Bejar both remained in the Westchester County jail on Monday. Each is to appear in Yorktown Town Court at 6 p.m. Thursday, according to police.
