A 61-year-old man was sent to jail after state police, who came to the aid of his disabled vehicle, say they discovered he had a stolen, loaded pistol as well as marijuana and charged him with three felonies.

Troopers observed the vehicle on I-84 in the Town of Southeast on Saturday, May 26 at approximately 11:30 p.m.

While interviewing the operator, Richard P. Kaley of Nashua, New Hampshire, an odor of marijuana was detected, police said. Further investigation discovered approximately eight grams of marijuana, and a loaded pistol that had been reported stolen in Ohio.

Kaley was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony as well as criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a firearm, both Class E felonies, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Kaley was arraigned before the Town of Kent Court and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond.
