William H. Dougherty, 87, Of Ossining

OSSINING, N.Y. – William H. Dougherty, of Ossining, died Sunday, June 7. He was 87.

Dougherty was born Jan. 27, 1928, in St. Augustine, Fla., to John and Zilla (nee Kitchen) Dougherty.

He moved to Irvington, graduated from Fort Schuyler Maritime Academy in 1948, sailed as a merchant marine and enlisted in the Navy. In 1955, he married Ruth Martinson.

Dougherty was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife; four children, Linda of Ossining, Bob of South Beach, Fla., Bill Jr. of Lyons, Colo., and David of Fishkill; and four grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be Monday, June 15, at Leach & Thomas Inc., 32 State St., Ossining, from 10-11 a.m. with services to follow.
