OSSINING, N.Y. -- Glenna Claire Biviano of Ossining, a life-long educator in music, English, and the performing arts, died July 4. She was 79. 

Glenna was born on Jan. 28, 1934 in Indiana to Clarence Martin and Naomi Norris. She is survived by her son David, daughter Melissa, sister Gloria Stern, and granddaughter Naomi.

After finishing high school, Glenna went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she received her first bachelor’s degree in 1952. She attended the Indiana University School of Drama, the Jordan Conservatory of Music’s drama department, and the Malcom School of Music. In 1984 she went to Pace University and received Bachelor of Science degree. After returning to school a third time in 1993, she received her Master’s in Education from Pace University.

During the mid-1980’s Glenna created and directed The Little Community Theater, a youth summer program in which children and teenagers were introduced to the world of theater. Performances included The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Oliver and many more.   In addition, Glenna gave private music lessons for piano, guitar, accordion, and violin to students out of her home for more than 20 years.

Glenna promoted education throughout her life.  From 1985 to 2010 she worked for the New York City Department of Education and was an English teacher at Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx.

Graveside services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Rd., Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567.
