Evelyn Thornton, 81, Worked For The Town Of Ossining, Nutrition Program

OSSINING, N.Y. - Evelyn Thornton of Ossining died Sept. 6. She was 81.

Thornton was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Oxford, N.C., to Colonial Cheatham and Annie Daniel Cheatham. She worked for the Town of Ossining in the nutrition program.

Thornton is survived by her daughters, Jackqueline Bunch, Ardyce Thornton, Gloria Thornton; son, George Thornton; sisters, Grace Walker, Susie Wilcerson, Deloise Kelly; brother, George Cheatham; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State St., Ossining. Funeral Service will be at 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at the Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 304 Spring St., Ossining, burial to follow at Dale Cemetery.
