OSSINING, N.Y. -- Claire D. Anderson, 93, died Nov. 1.
The daughter of late George F. Dean and Gertrude C. Gormley, Anderson was a longtime resident of Ossining and a graduate of Ossining High School Class of 1939.
During World War II, she was employed at Cambridge Instrument Company in Ossining in support of the war effort. She later worked in the Ossining Public School system and at Falk’s clothing store on Main Street in Ossining. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Village of Ossining Police Department.
Anderson was predeceased by her husband, Joseph H. Anderson; her brother, Robert Dean and her three sisters, Gertrude Lamberti, Margery Kipp and Joyce Whitlow.
She is survived by her daughter Margery (James) VanVliet; her son Robert (Mary) Anderson; four grandchildren, Kristin (Daniel III); James (Tamara) VanVliet; Jennifer (Joseph Jr.); and Karen Brown, and 10 great- grandchildren, Daniel Jackson IV, Matthew Jackson, Emma Jackson, Chloe VanVliet , Ryan Van Vliet , Emma Penkunas, Joseph (Tripp) Penkunas III, Benjamin Penkunas , Alyssa Morgan and Daniel Brown.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Place, with services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Dale Cemetery.
