A 2004 Nissan Maxima, operated by 19-year-old Veronica Fernanda Cacho-Morocho of Ossining was traveling northbound at approximately 5:40 a.m. on the Taconic when the vehicle exited the roadway off of the left shoulder, and subsequently struck a tree, police said.
The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and split in half after hitting the tree, News 12 reported.
Cacho-Morocho was pronounced dead at the scene by the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The crash led to the closure of two lanes on the Taconic Parkway for much of the morning commute.
