OSSINING, N.Y. Now that the Ossining School District's $41.6 bond passed by public vote, district officials aren't taking a breather.
The 2012-13 budget process is underway with the board of education holding the first budget work session meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Roosevelt Elementary School. The 2010-11 district budget came in around $101.8 million and the 2011-12 budget showed an increase to around $103.5 million, according to district records. While Ossining School District Board of Education President Bill Kress said he could not talk about the budget before it was released, he said the board had a lot of work ahead.
"I can say that we plan to stay within the tax cap," Kress said Wednesday evening. "We're going to have a lot of opportunities for the public to come out and give us input and we encourage people to join us whenever they're available."
The school board is next scheduled to meet for an all-day budget work session from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and budget discussions are set to continue in a work session at 7:30 p.m. March 14 in Roosevelt Elementary School. Those looking for more information on the budget process are asked to visit the district's budget webpage.
