The Broadway Blueshirts are up 2-0 in their best-of-7 series with the Montreal Canadiens with Game 3 taking place Thursday at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers last won the Stanley Cup in 1994.
Despite much of New York being gripped with Rangers fever, most people at Lucy's said they were not Rangers fans and had not been following their run to the Cup. People at Lucy's also said they would not be hopping on the bandwagon.
Ryan Cercy is a diehard Rangers fan, though; it runs in the family. His dad Jim is the beat writer for BlueshirtsUnited.com and was in Montreal for Games 1 and 2.
"It's pretty exciting," Cerny said.
Cerny, whose favorite player is goalie Henrik Lundqvist, said he didn't think the Rangers would be able to overcome their 3-1 deficit against the Pittsburgh Penguins but thinks the team came together after the death of Martin St. Louis' mother.
"They have played a lot harder," Cerny said. "It's been pretty cool to see this run."
Cerny said while they will beat the Canadiens, a potential Stanley Cup Final matchup with the Chicago Blackhawks scares him.
