OSSINING, N.Y. - Plans are moving ahead for a proposed 25-unit affordable senior citizen housing complex on the former site of an Elks Lodge on Main Street in the village.
Hudson EFT, LLC., which owns several sites in New York City, is looking to construct a three-story building on the 1.5-acre property to accommodate 25 mostly one and two-bedroom rental apartments for seniors.
Village Planner Valerie Monastra said the project doesn't help reduce Westchester County's federally mandated affordable housing quota since Ossining already provides a sufficient amount of affordable housing.
"Clearly the Village of Ossining will help with the marketing of the units. However, it will be open to anyone," Monastra said.
Monastra explained the Planning Board did not require the applicant to complete an extensive environmental review but some details are still being hashed out, such as emergency vehicle access and the location of utilities. The entrance and exit to the property will be from State Street.
The developer is also having discussions with neighbors about limiting the obstruction of the viewshed to the Hudson River.
If things continue to progress smoothly, Monastra estimated the project could be completed within 12 to 18 months.
