Ossining needs win to keep Playoff Hopes Alive

OSSINING, N.Y. - Friday night's game can either make or break Ossining or Horace Greeley’s football season.

The teams enter their 7 p.m. game with identical 3-2 records and each is coming off disappointing losses. If team drops to 3-3 it might be in jeopardy of missing the playoffs going into the final week of the regular season.

Horace Greeley was crushed by John Jay-Cross River 42-14 last week. More importantly though, Greeley all-everything quarterback/linebacker Justin Ciero missed the majority of the second half with a leg injury. Ossining did not fare any better as Harrison rumbled away with a 31-0 win.

Ossining will be without running back Stephen Candelaria, who is sidelined with an injury. Marc Clancy, who has five touchdowns, and Sebastian Montenegro will aim to pick up for Candelaria’s absence. If the ground game stalls, Ossining can turn to Bucknell-bound quarterback Brian Connolly.

Once Ciero went down with the injury last week, Greeley’s offense had difficulty moving the ball. Coach Bill Tribou alternated Brett Mester and Cameron Ciero at quarterback last week after Justin Ciero left the game.
