The organization serves a large cross-section of residents from the greater Ossining area including single individuals, couples, parents with children, senior citizens struggling to get by on Social Security, the unemployed, the under-employed, veterans, the sick who cannot work and the well who cannot make ends meet under current circumstances.
The Ossining Food Pantry is a “choice pantry” where clients make their own selections from a wide variety of food choices. This ensures that clients have access to items they really need and want.
It is a 100 percent volunteer-run organization working to supplement the nutritional needs of local area clients. Unfortunately, donations have not kept pace with the rising cost of food needed to support the increased number of clients coming to the Food Pantry each week. As a result, the Pantry has had to make some difficult choices and reduce the selection of items offered to clients.
Marty Engelhardt, Jr., Ossining Food Pantry president states “Our donors have been very generous for which we are most grateful. However, because of our rising costs, we certainly can use more help.”
