Ossining's Decker, 60-Year OFD Member, Dies at 84

OSSINING, N.Y. – William E. Decker, Jr., a member of the Ossining Fire Department for 60 years, died Oct. 11 at the age of 84.

Decker, most recently of Englewood, Fla. and formerly of Ossining, was born on Jun. 30, 1927 to William and Carrie Lemmey Decker. He served for the U.S. Navy during World War II and also went on to work as an engineer at Sing Sing Correctional Facility for many years. Decker was a member of Rescue 14 at Ossining Fire Department.

Decker is survived by his wife Marion Decker, his son William Decker III, his daughters Bonnie Schrader and Debra Adams, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He will be reposing from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Leach & Thomas Funeral Home in Ossining. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday, burial at Dale Cemetery in Ossining.
