OSSINING, N.Y. -- Everyone has a sixth sense and should be using it. So explains Carla Blaha, an Ossining resident who recently released her first book, "Get Your Vibe Back: A Simple Guide to Awaken Your Sixth Sense."
The Ossining mom of three, who is a professional psychic/intuitive, said the ebook, available on Kindle and Amazon, was inspired by her many sessions with private and group clients over the years.
"They say, 'I think I saw a sign but I'm not sure', or 'I think I'm a little psychic,'" she said. "This happens on a daily basis and so I realized that this is what needs to be put out to the public right away.
"Intuition is not for the select few who read for a living. Let's face it, how often are you ever wrong when you go with your vibe, otherwise known as your gut? The answer is most often: 'never!'"
Blaha believes that if young children were taught to use their sixth sense the world would be a different place. "I want people to know that the sixth sense is as real as the other five senses. It just hasn't been exercised."
Blaha, a longtime teacher, has worked as a psychic for many years but also is a fulltime Medium. (A Medium connects to those who have crossed with evidential information.)
"Fortunately, Mediumship is no longer behind closed doors and very out in the media," she said. "The usual response is 'That's so cool; do you have a card?'"
Blaha said she is "just like everyone else" ... except she talks to dead people. "To heal someone and watch their grief leave their face is a true gift I am blessed to have," she said.
And, in answer to that age-old question, no, she cannot predict the future. "All humans have free will and create their own lives," she said. "We simply provide guidance and assistance."
Blaha does readings at Soulauras in Briarcliff Manor, at Stern Wellness Center in Cross River by appointment and at Synchronicity in Brewster every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and one Saturday a month.
