To the editor:
As the Town of Ossining’s liaison to the Energize NY program (home energy efficiency effort), I first got to know Dana Levenberg at the Ossining Farmers Market where she and I shop and work on community outreach regularly. Her enthusiasm for the program and its benefits was evident, and she acted immediately.
For me, support for environmental conservation, preservation, and sustainability are essential candidate qualifiers. Please consider Dana’s actions: She encouraged Ossining municipalities to offer Community Choice Aggregation, which allows Ossining to benefit from the collective community’s buying power to secure alternative energy supply contracts on a community-wide basis with enormous potential to reduce carbon emissions.
In her role as New York State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef’s chief of staff, Dana assisted the Village in its successful application for the NY Prize competition. The Village won $100,000 for an electric-supply micro-grid implementation feasibility study, to bring us closer to energy autonomy and resiliency.
During her tenure on the Ossining School Board, Dana initiated “Walk Day” to highlight the environmental, physical and mental health benefits of walking.
She has attended many conferences and meetings in support of environmental advocacy; she has had her home “Energized” to conserve energy; and Dana may had been the first person I knew to drive a Prius! Dana’s enthusiasm and support for the environment will be a tremendous asset in her role as Town Supervisor, and in making our community and world leaner (less energy dependent and wasteful) and greener (reducing our carbon footprint). On Nov. 3, I hope you will join me in support of Dana Levenberg for Ossining town supervisor.
