Megan Lapicki-Landers, a 37-year-old mother of two, was admitted to the Trauma ICU at Westchester Medical Center on March 4 after suffering from organ failure. She underwent numerous surgeries since her admission, each requiring a large quantity of donated blood.
Friends said the generous donation of blood by others has helped save Lapicki-Landers' life. The blood drive is to honor her and help others, organizers said.
The blood drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the gym at St. Theresa's, 300 Dalmeny Road, Briarcliff Manor.
Donors are advised to eat well and drink fluids before giving blood. Those participating should bring ID. Anyone with questions should call the New York Blood Center at 800-688-0900.
