A woman accused of breaking into a New York residence didn’t just steal things–she also decided to redecorate, police said.
The bizarre incident unfolded in the Columbia County town of Germantown on Thursday, March 13, according to New York State Police.
After illegally entering the victim’s home, Mackenzie Golden, 44, stole several items and then redecorated the place, police said. Golden reportedly fled when she was confronted by the homeowner.
Troopers located the woman parked behind a nearby home and arrested her on suspicion of the following:
- Burglary (felony)
- Grand larceny (felony)
- Possession of burglar tools (misdemeanor)
- Endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanor)
Golden was arraigned at the Town of Claverack Court and released to probation. She is due back in court on Thursday, March 20.
Police kept mum on Golden’s interior design vision—whether she rearranged the furniture for better flow or swapped out some throw pillows remains a mystery.
