Friday night from 4-7 p.m. is “first pick” with a $10 admission fee. Shoppers will be able to purchase the best of what Teatown has to offer. Many unusual varieties sell out early. Wine and cheese will be available.
On Saturday, the sale will take place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Parking will be available on both days in Teatown’s Lakeside lot off of Blinn Road.
In addition to a wide variety of perennials, annuals, vegetables and herbs, Teatown will also offer a limited number of native wildflowers gathered from Wildflower Island. Free tours of the island will be offered throughout the day on Saturday.
Teatown will also be selling bread from New York’s Tom Cat Bakery. And something new -- garlic clips -- an excellent deer repellent, and native plants from Earth Tones in Woodbury, Conn., round out the complement of a gardener’s delight.
“This annual spring event brings gardeners from near and far, drawn by our quality plants and our staff and volunteer experts offering advice,” said Kevin Carter, Teatown’s executive director. “We look forward to sharing the earth’s bounty and celebrating spring with everyone who attends the plant sale this year.”
Teatown Lake Reservation, an environmental education organization with a 1,000-acre private, not-for-profit nature preserve in Westchester County, is one of the largest and most active environmental education centers in the region.
Teatown impacts more than 18,000 adults and children every year. In addition to its full schedule of year-round programs and nature-focused summer camp, Teatown maintains more than 15 miles of hiking trails. It has grown continuously since it was established on 194 acres in 1963, more than 50 years ago. More information about Teatown is at www.teatown.org.
