The training will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, from 6-8 p.m. at the Ossining Public Library theater, 53 Croton Ave.

Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is a medication can help counteract the effects of an opiate overdose, according to Alice Joselow, Communities That Care coordinator.

“There is a push to get Narcan out into communities so that people can help reverse an opioid overdose by administering the antidote,” Joselow said in a press release.

“Most law enforcement personnel are already trained on how to administer Narcan. However, this training is focused on getting this antidote Narcan (in the form of a nasal spray) into the hands of people who may have friends or loved ones who are facing a battle with opioid addiction.”

State Sen. David Carlucci, D-Rockland-Westchester, is co-sponsoring the event. He represents the 38th District, which covers Ossining, Briarcliff Manor and Rockland County.
