In the "Homestretch," three homeless teenagers brave Chicago winters, the pressures of high school, and life alone on the streets to build a brighter future. Against all odds, these kids defy stereotypes as they create new, surprising definitions of home.
Can they recover from the traumas of abandonment and homelessness, and build the future they dream of? While told through a personal perspective, their stories connect with larger issues of poverty, race, juvenile justice, immigration, foster care and LGBTQ rights.
Join the library for the film and a discussion of how societies are addressing homelessness and housing for people living in poverty…and how they can do better.
