ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- Area favorite The Mike Risko Band will play a free show at Captain Lawrence Brewing Company on Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford on Friday from 8 to 11 p.m.
Mike and Miriam Risko have run Mike Risko Music for 20 years, and to celebrate that anniversary, the couple have performed numerous free shows all over the region.
The Mike Risko Band started in 2007 when the Riskos added pediatrician Dr. Larry Baskind on bass, and eventually Police Officer Franklin Jackson Jr. on drums, keyboardist Ben Zebelman and backup vocalist Melissa Miser joined up as well.
"This band is a collaboration of great musicians with the goal of bringing music to the community," says Mike Risko.
The group balances a handful of yearly bar gigs with appearances at community events, performing at Ossining's Earth Day celebration and Chappaqua's It's A Beautiful Day.
Future plans include performing at the Ossining Waterfront's annual fireworks show on July 2 and the Ossining Village Fair.
