OSSINING, N.Y.--Maryknoll Mission Institute will be hosting a week-long program that focuses on feisty Bible women, prayer and the arts from Sunday, June 8 until Friday, June 13 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center.
The center is located at 10 Pinesbridge Road, Ossining.
“Half of humanity didn’t vanish during Jesus’ time on earth," notes the Institute in its brochure of programs that are available. “Let’s imagine the women – then and now – of untold stories and see Jesus through their lens. In medieval times, the arts were ‘porta coeli’ or ‘gate of heaven’ through which God touched humanity and humans reached towards God. If other prayer forms have grown tired, let’s try the arts, moving towards Catherine of Siena’s ‘Beauty beyond beauty, endless sea.”
Kathy Coffey will be the resource person for the week of programs. Coffey is the author of numerous popular books on spirituality including "Hidden Women of the Gospels," "God in the Moment," "Mary" and "Women of Mercy." Additionally, she has won 16 awards from the Catholic Press Association,
