Fast-Moving House Fire Displaces Family In Rockland A family has been displaced after a fire ripped through their home in the Hudson Valley. The blaze broke out around 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at 14 River Road in Stony Point. The family was able to get out safely, but the home sustained heavy damage from smoke, fire, and water, said the Stony Point Fire Department said. A neighboring home was also damaged, the department said. Officials said a preliminary investigation revealed the fire started on the porch of the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The crash was discovered around 2 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16, on the Palisades Parkway southbound at Exit 16 in the town of Stony Point, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Man Dies After Jumping From Bear Mountain Bridge, State Police Say A man drove to Bear Mountain Bridge and died by suicide after leaping off the structure's edge, said State Police, leaving his vehicle parked on the structure facing west with its hazard lights flashing.  According to police, the body of the unidentified person was discovered floating in the Hudson River at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14 by an officer investigating the unoccupied vehicle.  The body was recovered by members of the Stony Point Fire Department, according to police.  The bridge was not closed during the police investigation.

Body Of Man Pulled From Lake In Harriman State Park The body of a possible drowning victim was pulled by dive teams from a lake in Harriman State Park near the border of Rockland and Orange counties on Monday morning. Lake Skannatati in Tuxedo was closed during the search. The man went underwater early Sunday afternoon. Thiells Fire Department divers were called to the scene after the Tuxedo Town Fire Department, Monroe Fire Department, Cronomer Valley Fire Department and  Stony Point Fire Department all responded.
