Rockland County Home Destroyed By Fast-Moving Fire A Rockland County home was destroyed by a heavy fire over the weekend. The fire began around 2:40 a.m., Sunday, April 11 at 28 Van Nostrand Place in Nanuet, said the Nanuet Fire Department. First arriving fire units found heavy fire and sounded a second alarm which brought additional firefighters from area departments. The family, which included two small children, were able to escape without injury. First responders were dispatched to a Harold Street home in Nanuet shortly after midnight on Friday, Jan. 10, when the blaze broke out, Orangetown Police officials said.  Upon arrival, first responders found the vacant, single-family home with an active fire in the rear of the structure, including a deck. The discovery was made around 8:40 a.m. Friday, June 28, in the rear parking lot of CVS located at 274 Old Nyack Turnpike in South Spring Valley, said the Ramapo police. A man, identified as one Luis B. Guaman-Espinoza, 28, of Nanuet, was located in the rear seat of a gray taxi and was determined to have been shot multiple times, police said.
