Police Make More Than 30 Visits In Nyack Parole, Probation Check

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - In an effort to ensure the community’s safety, law enforcement agencies in Rockland County recently conducted safety inspections in Nyack regarding people who are currently on probation or parole.

As part of a public safety initiative dubbed “Operation Community Outreach,” on Aug. 3, officers from the Rockland County Department of Probation, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the Town of Orangetown Police Department conducted the inspection of dozens of offenders.

 According to police, “Operation Community Outreach” is a collaborative effort between the agencies to ensure that convicted offenders are in compliance with the terms of their probation or parole. Offenders include those who have been classified as “high risk,” a sex offender or have been convicted of domestic violence, a violent crime or non-criminal offenses.

In total, more than 30 inspections were conducted in Nyack, including local residences, licensed alcohol establishments and other locations in the area of probationers or parolees’ homes. Police noted that during the course of the inspections, probation officers observed several violations, which will be written-up and referred back to court for judicial action.
