Orangetown Police Charge New City Man With DWI

ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Orangetown police have arrested a 24-year-old resident of New City on a DWI charge after an incident in Pearl River.

The arrest occurred during a motor vehicle stop on Middletown Road on Saturday, July 2, at approximately 3:16 a.m., police report.

The driver, identified as Jared Black, had allegedly committed numerous traffic violations, according to officials.

After the stop, it was discovered that Black had the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath; he also failed numerous field sobriety tests at the scene, police report.

Black was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and transported to Orangetown Police Headquarters, where he failed a breathalyzer test, according to officials.

The suspect was processed and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, police report.

He was released and is due back in Orangetown Justice Court on Wednesday, according to officials.
