One of the largest school districts in the region will start the new year closed for in-person learning due to a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases. The announcement by the New Rochelle City School District came after the Yonkers Public School District announced a similar measure on Friday, Dec. 31. Hudson Valley School District Shifts To Remote Learning After Threat
A threat described by district officials as being "specific" has prompted a school district in Westchester to switch to remote learning on Friday, Dec. 17. "This morning, we learned about a specific threat made on Snapchat against the high school," Pelham Public Schools Acting Superintendent of Schools Dennis R. 19: Marist College Put On Pause After Outbreak Of New Cases
Marist College has been forced to close parts of its campus as it contends with a small COVID-19 outbreak among students. As of Thursday, March 18, Marist was reporting 128 active COVID-19 cases - 75 off-campus, 53 on campus - who have been placed into quarantine as a precaution. Due to the rash of new cases, the college announced it would be entering a precautionary campus pause that will be in effect through 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23. A new Hudson Valley school district has decided to take a “holiday pause” and close for in-person education for the rest of the calendar year due to COVID-19.
