Five Dutchess Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops

On Saturday, Sept. 21, State Police from Stormville arrested Oscar G. Tapia, 36, of Mount Vernon, for DWI with two prior convictions within ten years, a felony. He was traveling on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of East Fishkill, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.

Bicyclist Killed In Town Of Dutchess Crash Near Food Mart, Police Say
A Town of Poughkeepsie bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle on Vassar Road.
The crash took place around 6:35 p.m., Monday, Aug. 12, on Vassar Road, near the Dimpy's Food Mart at 401 Vassar Road, said the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Lt. Michael O’Dowd.
During the crash, a 2010 Honda, operated by a 63-year-old Poughkeepsie resident, struck a 41-year-old bicyclist, also of Poughkeepsie, O'Dowd said.
The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office.
