Petition Calls For Stoplight Following Fatal Crash With School Bus In Hudson Valley
An area woman who was engaged to be married to a dump truck driver who was recently killed in a vehicle crash with a school bus has started a petition to have a stoplight installed at the intersection where the crash occurred. Krista Smith said the intersection located at Route 9W and Malden Turnpike in Saugerties in Ulster County, is one of the most dangerous in the county and is asking the state Department of Transportation to install a traffic light. Duo Hospitalized After Crashing Stolen Vehicle In Dutchess, Police Say
Two men were hospitalized, one in critical condition, after fleeing from New York State Police troopers in an allegedly stolen vehicle before crashing in the area. Troopers on patrol at approximately 2 a.m. on Friday, May 7 on Route 9W in Ulster County in the Town of Lloyd attempted to stop the driver of a 2005 Nissan Sentra after he committed a traffic violation. The troopers initiated a traffic stop, police said, but as they approached the Nissan, the driver - later identified as 20-year-old Poughkeepsie resident Anthony Ermo sped away from the scene, prompting a pursuit.
