Support Pours In For Family Of Woman Killed With Boyfriend In Area Crash The community is coming out in force to help the family of a young woman who died along with her boyfriend during a single-vehicle crash in the area. Orange County resident Alexis Lewis, 20, of Chester, was killed along with her boyfriend, Holmes B. Shindon, 21, of Montgomery, during a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, Nov. 16, on Route 208 in the town of Hamptonburgh. Video: Woman Escapes Injury After Flames Explode From Car In Area Things got dangerous for a driver who received a shock when her car suddenly burst in flames in Orange County. The woman driving on Clove Road just off of Route 208 in South Blooming Grove told officials that she smelled smoke shortly after making the turn onto the roadway shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Her Toyota Camry then proceeded to stall out and flames burst through the hood of the car. The woman was able to escape the blaze unscathed, and firefighters were called to the scene. Working quickly, crews had the flames knocked down and extinguished in approximately 15 minutes. …

Route 208 Closure Expected To Last Until Early November A busy Orange County roadway will be closed for more than a week as crews perform construction activities in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that beginning at 6 a.m. this week, Route 208 will be closed between Clove Road and JMD Drive in Blooming Grove. The closure is expected to last until 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2.  Single lane closures with alternating traffic are expected to occur daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Friday, Nov. 2 through Wednesday, Nov. 7. Police Seize $1M Of High-Grade Marijuana In Hudson Valley Two men are behind bars after New York State Police discovered more than 204 pounds of high-grade, individually packaged marijuana in the Hudson Valley.The pot seized has a street value of more than $1 million dollars, according to Major Pierce V. Gallagher, Troop F commander. The discovery was made on Friday, July 27, during a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2018 rental vehicle on Route 208 in the Town of Montgomery in Orange County. Dutchess Man Nabbed For DWI New York State Police arrested numerous people over the weekend in DWI incidents in Orange, Dutchess and Rockland counties. Orange County:  Walter Post, 22, of Wallkill, was charged with DWI on Friday after being stopped for a traffic violation on Route 208 in the Village of Walden.  Edward Bordas, 30, of Newburgh, was charged with DWI following a stop on Route 52 Friday in the town of Newburgh.
