Contractor Scammed Homeowner In Region Out Of $23K, Police Say A contractor is facing charges after allegedly scamming a homeowner in the region out of thousands of dollars. Rensselaer County resident Robert Thomas, age 35, of the town of Stephentown, was arrested Monday, May 22, on charges of grand larceny and forgery. According to State Police, a Schenectady County homeowner initially contacted troopers in July 2022 claiming to be the victim of a construction scam. The homeowner told troopers they had signed a work agreement with Thomas’ company, MZX Construction, in May 2021 and had paid him for renovation work that was to be completed. In April 2…
