14-Year-Old Struck, Killed While Walking On Highway In Area A 14-year-old was struck and killed while walking on a highway in the region. Emergency crews in Columbia County were called shortly before 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, with reports of a car vs. pedestrian crash in the town of Clermont, on State Route 9 near County Route 8. New York State Police determined that a 2007 Ford F550 was traveling northbound on Highway 9 when it struck the teenager, who was walking in the roadway at the time. Paramedics pronounced the teen dead at the scene, according to police. No other vehicles were involved and there were no other reports of injuries. State …

Area Man Charged For Fatal Hit-Run Crash Police have arrested a Hudson Valley man who allegedly struck and killed a 76-year-old woman in New York City and then fled the scene. Orange County resident Vincent Francis, age 62, of Monroe, was arrested on Wednesday, March 23 in connection with the crash, said the NYPD. The crash took place in Co-op City in the Bronx on Tuesday, March 7 when Francis was driving a dump truck south on the Hutchinson River Parkway East when he made a left turn onto Einstein Loop and struck Lola Blair while she was crossing the roadway, NYPD said.  Francis then fled the scene, police said. Man Struck, Killed By Car On Old Route 6 In Carmel This story has been updated. A 44-year-old man was struck and killed while walking along Old Route 6 in Putnam County. The man, an unidentified Patterson resident, was hit about 7:06 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9, in the vicinity of Spins Bowl in Carmel by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra, said Carmel Police. Dutchess Woman, 30, Attempting To Cross Route 9 Hit, Killed By Car A 30-year-old pedestrian was killed late Wednesday night when she was hit by a car while attempting to cross a stretch of Route 9, state police said. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at around 10:30 p.m. near Old Hopewell Road in the town of Wappinger.
