Failed Bank Robber Nabbed At Pleasant Valley Home, Police Say A Hudson Valley 26-year-old man has been charged with attempted robbery in an unsuccessful attempt to hold up a Chase Bank. Dutchess County resident Daimion Lowe, of Pleasant Valley, was arrested on Saturday, June 17 at his home, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel. Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to the Chase Bank on Main Street in Pleasant Valley for a robbery. The suspect later identified as Lowe, was unsuccessful in his attempt to rob the bank and fled on foot, Nevel said. New Update: Two-Alarm Fire Damages Pleasant Valley Library, Route 44 Remains Closed Traffic is being diverted on Route 44 as a two-alarm fire ripped through the Pleasant Valley Free Library on Main Street. The fire, which began around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, is believed to have started in the basement, but the building quickly became engulfed in smoke, with smoke coming out of the top of the building. The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said they have investigators on the scene.  The Route 44 closure is between West Road and North Avenue, with traffic backed up to South Avenue at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Dutchess Teen Hits Owner With Rock While Burglarizing Business, Police Say A teen is behind bars facing three felony charges after state police say he struck the owner in the head with a rock during an attempted robbery in Dutchess County. Troopers responded to South Road and Main Street in the town of Pleasant Valley for a fight in progress at approximately 9 a.m. on Monday, May 7. The fight broke out after 18-year-old Kyle G. Ostrom of Clinton had burglarized a local business, and the owners were attempting to detain him, according to state police.
