Chay Ortiz, the founder of Mole Mole, a Mexican eatery in the City of Poughkeepsie, died suddenly at home on Tuesday, March 2, according to his obituary. Known for his truly authentic Mexican food, and super friendly demeanor, Ortiz was busy working on his second restaurant located in the old Cafe Arora at the time of his death. Vacant Restaurant Damaged In Overnight Dutchess Fire A vacant restaurant that was slated for renovation was heavily damaged during an early-morning fire. The call for the fire at the former Cozzy's Place restaurant at 256 Hooker Ave., came in about 2:20 a.m., Tuesday, July 2 said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. The first firefighters on the scene found fire on the upper floor of the two-and-half-story building.  "They (the firefighters) attacked the fire from the second floor to access the attic area where the fire was located," the chief said.
