Stabbed 54 Times: Man From Region Admits Murdering Ex-Girlfriend On First Day Of Trial
More than a year after a 27-year-old woman was stabbed to death outside of her Long Island home, her killer from upstate New York has finally confessed.
Kason Parker, age 35, of Albany, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Suffolk County Court on Monday, May 1, for killing his ex-girlfriend Meghan Kiefer in October 2021.

Brothers From NY ID'd As Victims In Florida Condo Collapse
A pair of brothers who are Long Island natives have been identified as two of the victims of the condo collapse n Surfside, Florida.
Dr. Brad Cohen, a Suffolk County native, from Dix Hills, was confirmed dead by the Miami-Dade Police on Friday, July 16. His body was found on Wednesday, July 7, the department said.
His brother, Dr. Gary Cohen, age 58, who was also killed in the Tuesday, June 24 collapse, was identified earlier in the week.

Man Admits To $568K Mortgage Fraud Scheme That Included Area Homeowners
A 59-year-old man has admitted to stealing $568,000 from as many as 32 homeowners who sought his help to pare down their mortgages.
The scheme by Mark Savransky targeted residents in Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Queens, the Bronx and Brooklyn, Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said.
Savransky, of Dix Hills on Long Island, converted the funds provided to him by homeowners for his own car payments, credit card, department store and grocery store bills, restaurant tabs, travel and even Netflix, Singas said.
