Man From Region Strangled Wife To Death, Jury Finds
More than two years after a woman from the region was strangled to death, her husband has been convicted of her murder. A Rensselaer County jury found 37-year-old Taquan Evans, of Troy, guilty of second-degree murder on May 24, in the death of his wife Georlasia Evans. The Rensselaer County DA’s Office announced the verdict on Wednesday, June 14. According to prosecutors, Evans strangled his wife before dropping her off at Samaritan Hospital on Jan. 15, 2021. Woman From Rhinebeck, Man Nabbed In Violent Home Invasion
A woman and man have been arrested following their involvement in a Pleasant Valley home invasion, police say. New York State Troopers responded to a residence on Route 44 in Pleasant Valley on the report of a burglary in process on Sunday, March 3. Police say the victims stated that the man forced his way into the residence and used a knife to threaten physical violence before fleeing the area. Cuomo Goes National In Battle Against NRA
The National Rifle Association, the nation's top pro-gun lobby and one of its most powerful interest groups, said regulatory efforts by Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New Castle could make it “unable to exist as a not-for-profit or pursue its advocacy mission."
