Overturned Kayaker Rescued By Dutchess County Tour Boat, Firefighters An overturned kayaker was rescued from the waters of the Hudson River by a tour boat and firefighters. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, near Dennings Point and Long Dock Park. According to the Beacon Professional Firefighters, IAFF L-Beacon Fire Units, Beacon Volunteer Ambulance, Ambulnz, New Hamburg Fire, and the City of Newburgh firefighters with their boats were dispatched for an overturned kayak with the victim in the water.  Firefighters responded to Dennings Point and Long Dock Park to locate the victim, who was seen in the water.…

Man Killed, Officer Injured In Head-On Dutchess County Crash, Police Say A 49-year-old man was killed and an officer injured during a two-vehicle head-on crash. It happened in Dutchess County shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Beacon. Derron E. Holmes, of Beacon, was killed in the crash involving a Subaru Outback and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. According to Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson, of the Beacon Police Department, Holmes was driving the Subaru in the area of Fishkill Avenue in Beacon, when he collided head-on with the Jeep. The incident took place around 11:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, in Dutchess County. City of Beacon Police officers responded to Red Flynn Drive near the Sloop Club for a man reported to be yelling for help, said Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson. 'Arrest Imminent,' Police Say After Dutchess Stabbing Victim Hospitalized Beacon Police say an "investigation is ongoing and an arrest is imminent" after a victim was stabbed earlier this week. At around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, City of Beacon Police officers were dispatched to the area of 455 Main Street for a report of a man with a stab wound.  An investigation determined that the incident occurred further down on the East End of Main Street, police said. Stuck Breakneck Ridge Teen Hiker Issued A Ticket Following Rescue A 19-year-old who had to be rescued after becoming struck high on a trail on Breakneck Ridge, a mountain along the Hudson River between Beacon and Cold Spring, was issued a ticket after he was back to safety.
