To the Editor:

When it comes to the U.S. Coast Guard’s proposed anchor stations on the Hudson River, Sue Serino is late to the party. The Senator recently sent out an email on this issue. Yet she has clearly been asleep at the wheel, as always. Her own email states that the U.S. Coast Guard's deadline for announcing public hearings was June 30. That was two months ago!

Now we she wants people to make public comment online with just two weeks left before the comment window closes? What’s at stake is the Coast Guard potentially putting 10 massive oil tanker and ship anchoring stations right along the Hudson River – hurting our tourism industry, our environment, and our entire way of life here in the Hudson Valley.

Once again, "Do Nothing Sue" proves she can't get her job done. Where has she been this whole time? She practically allowed the U.S. Coast Guard to waltz right into our backyard and set up these anchoring stations without a word.

Communities and organizations in the Hudson Valley like Riverkeeper and Clearwater have been making noise about this issue all year long. Only now, in election season, is she saying something about this. It’s too little too late as far as I’m concerned. This isn't the kind of leadership our community needs.
