Firefighters from numerous departments helped the Tivoli Fire Department battle a two-alarm blaze that destroyed a home and killed several pets on Route 9G in the Town of Red Hook.

The fire, which started about 2:40 p.m. Monday at 4693 Route 9G, has closed Route 9G as well as roads from Annandale Road to Budds Corners Road, said Sgt. Patrick Hildenbrand.

Residents were able to get out of the home, but several pets were killed, he said.

The Dutchess County Fire Investigation Team is on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
