DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Rhinebeck woman was nabbed for ripping off more than $23,000 in welfare benefits following an investigation by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
Selene B. Gutierrez, 31, was charged with welfare fraud following the investigation in conjunction with the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services, said Capt. John Watterson.
The investigation revealed she had fraudulently received more than $23,000 in SNAP benefits between March 2011 and February 2017 by concealing the fact that she had outside income, Watterson said.
Gutierrez was arraigned at the City of Poughkeepsie Court and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 3.
