RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Mary Theresa Tighe, 87, formerly of Rhinebeck, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, at home. Tighe lived with the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict in Huntington for eight years.
Tighe was a former resident of Hicksville, where she and her husband Thomas raised their family. Prior to moving to Huntington, she lived in Rhinebeck and was a communicant of the Good Shepherd Church.
Born Nov. 14, 1928, in Gladree, Ireland, she was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Reilly) McDonnell. She emigrated to the United States in 1935.
On April 26, 1952, at St. Luke's Church in the Bronx, she married Thomas J. Tighe; he passed away June 24, 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary and her husband James Wing of Rhinebeck; three sons, Thomas and his wife Elaine of Las Vegas, Nev., Patrick and his wife Janet of Northport and Michael and his wife Catherine of Sarasota, Fla. sister, Anne Pietropaolo; brother, Michael McDonnell; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She also was predeceased by her brother, Patrick McDonnell.
